Your art business companion

Build a career that compounds.

Enter a work once. It becomes the inventory line, the price, the one-sheet, the invoice and the certificate, and it is already on your manager's or your gallery's screen. Nobody does it twice.

The record that builds up shows where the career stands: your stage, the calls worth your time, and a price you can defend.

Made by an artist manager. One artist or a whole roster.

Most tools add steps. This one removes them.

A career in art is built by several people: the artist, a manager, a gallery, sometimes an agent or an advisor. Today each keeps a list of their own, and every work, price and sale is typed again by each of them. Artelier Business keeps one record, and each person works from it.

A gallery account works as a manager account does: the same works and documents, the same Career Compass, and costs sent to the artist for approval.

One version of every work

The artist saves a work and it is in the manager's or the gallery's inventory. A sale recorded by either one lands on the artist's history.

The same reading of the career

The artist and the manager open the same Career Compass. It says "you" to the artist and names the artist to the manager. Same gates, same counts.

Costs agreed before they are billed

A manager who pays a cost for the artist sends it for approval. It reaches an invoice only once it is approved, or after 14 days with no answer.

Four stages. Written gates between them.

A career moves when other people choose your work: a curator, a jury, a gallery, a museum, a buyer who comes back. The Compass counts those selections and sales, checks them against the gates for each stage, and shows you the one that is still open.

Stage 1

Building

The record is being put together. First selections, first sales.

Stage 2

Emerging Professional

Chosen by more than one selector. Sales to several buyers, or a gallery that keeps showing you.

Stage 3

Established Professional

Selected by institutions. Buyers who return. Activity year after year.

Stage 4

International / Institutional

A museum record, selections abroad, critical writing, and a market that does not hang on one buyer.

Rules, not opinion

The gates are written down and versioned. The same record always gives the same reading.

It shows its work

Every gate lists what was counted and what was left out, with the reason.

Paying is not being chosen

A show you paid to join does not count as a selection. A fair counts for the gallery that brought you.

Yours to see

Your stage is for you and your manager. It is never printed on your CV or shown to collectors.

Where it stands today. Every artist can open the Career Compass on their own profile, on any plan, the free one included. A manager sees it for each artist they manage. While entries on your CV still wait for your answer, it says what your CV points to and gives no verdict.

Which calls to take

Every call, read against your stage.

An application costs you time, and sometimes a fee. Before you apply, the call is read for three things: who chooses the artists, what it costs or pays, and what it does for your next gate.

Look for

For each gate still open, the kinds of call that can close it and the kinds that cannot.

Nothing is guessed

A reading comes from what the call's own page states. A fair selects galleries, not artists.

No call is hidden

The calls that can close an open gate come first. Reaching above your stage stays your choice.

69% of art collectors say they have hesitated to buy art because of a lack of transparency.

Asked what would make collecting easier, 60% said: greater transparency in artwork pricing.

Source: Artsy, Art Market Trends 2025. 1,236 collectors surveyed in more than 60 countries, February to March 2025.

Your price

The same canvas, on four records.

What your record holds is the largest input in the price. For one oil painting of 100 × 80 cm, the recommendation roughly doubles from one price band to the next. That is why the record has to be real, and why a price built this way can be explained to a collector line by line.

A recommendation, never a valuation. You set the final figure.

Maurice Mbikayi

Cape Town

Maurice Mbikayi is a multimedia artist working in sculpture, installation, performance, and photography. Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1974, he lives and works in Cape Town. His practice transforms discarded electronic waste (keyboards, motherboards, cables, cellphones) into mixed-media works that interrogate the environmental and social costs of technology in the Congolese context. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Zeitz MOCAA, Kunsthaus Graz, and the Middelheim Museum.

For galleries, managers, agents and advisors

One roster. One record per artist. Nothing typed twice.

The artist adds a work and it is in your shared workspace. You record the sale and it is on their history. Each artist keeps a private account. You keep the full picture. An agent or an art advisor works from the same account as a manager: sales, invoices, collectors, and the advisor's commission as a line on the sale.

Shared workspace

An artist saves a work and it is in your inventory. No forwarding, no retyping.

Each artist's stage

Open an artist and see the documented stage, the open gates and the next step. On manager accounts today.

Costs the artist approves

A manager sends a cost paid for the artist. It is billed once approved, or after 14 days with no answer.

Exhibition tools

Wall labels with QR codes, price lists and catalogues from the works you select.

Collector match

Find the collectors on your list whose medium, size and budget fit a work.

Per artist, not per seat

Studio covers five artists. Add more at € 6 each per month.

The Business Companion

AI organises. Rules decide. You confirm.

The Companion does the typing

It reads your CV and your photos into the record, and drafts the collector e-mail, the contract or the statement when you ask.

Rules and arithmetic do the judging

AI never sets your stage and never sets your price. Both come from written rules you can check.

You stay in charge

You decide what is on your record, what appears on your CV, and what you charge.

Pricing

A flat fee, by the month or by the year, and no commission on your sales. Pay by the year and two months are free. Solo, Pro and Studio start with a 30-day free trial: a card is required and is not charged until day 30. Bespoke is set up in a conversation.

Questions

What is the Career Compass?

A reading of your career record against a fixed set of gates. It shows the stage your record documents today, the gates for the next stage, and what is still open. It is rule-based: the same record always gives the same reading.

Can I use the Career Compass today?

Yes. Every artist can open it on their own profile, on any plan, the free one included. If a manager on Artelier Business manages you, they see the same reading. Two of the gates count sales, and recording a sale needs a paid plan.

Who decides my stage?

Nobody does. The rules count what is on your record: who selected your work, where it was shown, what sold and to whom. You can open any gate and see what was counted and what was left out.

Which calls should I apply for?

The Compass shows the gate that is still open and the kinds of call that can close it. Each call then gets one of five readings from what its own page states: who chooses, what it costs, what it pays. When the page does not say, the reading is "Not enough to tell". No call is hidden, and the choice stays yours.

How does my record affect my price?

What your record holds is the largest input in the price recommendation. The calculator asks which of four descriptions is closest to your record, then refines the figure with the details of your CV and your own sales. It does not read your Compass stage. The result is a recommendation, never a valuation, and you set the final figure.

What does my manager or my gallery see?

The works, the sales and the documents you both work on. Your manager also sees your Career Compass. Your stage is never printed on your CV or shown to collectors. A cost your manager or gallery paid for you is billed only once you approve it, or after 14 days with no answer.

Does Artelier Business take a commission on my sales?

No. You pay a flat fee, by the month or by the year, and nothing on your sales.

I work with a gallery. Does this replace it?

No. A gallery that keeps choosing your work is part of your record and counts toward it. Use a gallery when it suits the work, sell directly when it does not, and keep both on one history.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. A free account gives you a profile, your Career Compass and open calls read against it, with no card. Solo and Pro add inventory, pricing, invoices and certificates, with a 30-day trial.

Is it built for managers and galleries too?

Yes. Studio covers up to five artists, with more at € 6 each per month, and starts with a 30-day trial. Bespoke is for galleries and larger rosters and includes a gallery site built from your inventory. An agent or an art advisor uses a manager account, with the same sales and invoicing tools.
